A. afra is indigenous in South Africa and found up the East African belt as far North as Ethiopia. It is found commonly in the fynbos and transitional karoo biomes in moister mountain and riverine zones.
Grown for Cape Fynbos Oils on both Rockhaven and Lentelus farms from plants propagated from local wild stock found on each of these farms.

Artemisia afra is one of the oldest and best known medicinal plants in South Africa. Tea leaf infusions are widely used across Africa for treating coughs, colds and intestinal worms. Traditionally used for the relief of chest and emotional problems, fever, colic and loss of appetite. Wilde Als also boosts the immune system.

How to use
Add a few drops of the essential oil into a bowl of steaming hot water and cover the head and bowl with a cloth. Inhale the steam to alleviate nasal congestion; reduce fever and headaches associated with colds and flu or whooping cough.
Or add a few drops to room diffuser for disinfecting the air.

Named after the Greek goddess Artemis, this soft aromatic shrub is reminiscent of the South African veld. Artemisia afra is best known for its use in treating colds and flu but, having a high thujone content, should not be taken internally. The Afrikaans name Wilde Als means “Wild Everything.”
