An exciting essential oil distilled on Magnifica Farm in the Southern Cederberg.
Provenance
Diosma ramosissima (or Anysbos) grows naturally in the Koue Bokkeveld / Southern Cederberg, Western Cape, South Africa. It is one of the 28 known Diosmas in the genus - part of the family Rutaceae, which includes all the Buchus. The plant is evergreen and highly aromatic (a synonym is Diosma flavescens). Similar in appearance to Diosma prama - with white flowers, fine leaves, and distinctive oil glands but distinguished primarily by its far stronger aniseed-like scent.Indicators and use
A highly scented oil now being explored especially for its use in perfumes, but also in soaps, candles, and sprays.
Aromatic profile
Herbaceous with a strong hint of aniseed or “anysbos”.
How to use
Add a drop of oil into the palms of the hands and inhale to activate the senses, or dilute a few drops into a carrier oil (olive, moringa, baobab). Experiment by adding a drop to your soap-making or perfume blend.
Points of interest
As with Diosma prama this a relatively new indigenous fynbos oil offered for the first time by the Cape Fynbos Oils farmer’s co-operative in 2025.
