Indication
Traditionally used as a smudge herb in ritual and ceremony, as a way to connect with the ancestors and clear stagnant energy. The Khoisan anointed their bodies with this herb for its antimicrobial benefit. Other indigenous peoples used it as a soft sleep-inducing herb to make an aromatic and insect repellent stuffing for mattresses; hence the name kooigoed.
